Lila Kirtan is a creative collaboration between Sri Prahlada and Prema Hamilton. We combine the rich traditions of kirtan with contemporary music and storytelling. Drawing inspiration from bhakti wisdom, our music invites listeners on a journey of devotion and self-discovery. It's an engaging experience, meant to connect us all more deeply with the spiritual aspects of life.
Our collaboration began from a shared vision to innovate within the sacred music space, merging our backgrounds in classical kirtan and modern musical expressions. Sri Prahlada
Sri Prahlada, a seasoned kirtan artist, began his musical journey as a child in ashrams in Australia and India. Blessed with natural musical talent, he secured a recording contract with the record giant EMI at the age of 12. Under the guidance of renowned teachers, he has shared kirtan with audiences worldwide. He now resides in NYC, where he regularly leads kirtan throughout the city, captivating audiences with his soulful voice and devotion. Sri Prahlada's kirtan sessions not only feature musical chanting but also incorporate storytelling and wisdom from the bhakti-yoga tradition, inviting participants on a transformative journey of devotion and spiritual awakening.
Prema Hamilton
Prema Hamilton, a dynamic jazz pianist and composer, enriches New York's performing arts scene with a unique blend of global influences and a deep passion for transformative art. His musical education heralds from the vibrant rhythms of Cape Town College of Music, South Africa, shaping a journey marked by an authentic fusion of cultural narratives, which resonate through his message-driven, multi-arts performances.
Prema unites an eclectic mix of musicians, dancers, and actors under his visionary leadership. Their collective pursuit is to create art that deeply connects with the soul. A lot of his music, drawing inspiration from the Bhakti tradition, seamlessly integrates Sanskrit chants, applied theater, and soulful grooves into an immersive and interactive experience.
Based in New York, Prema's innovative approach offers the city's discerning audiences performances that are not just heard but deeply felt, fostering a profound connection that uplifts and transforms.
